7000 employees required for TASMAC

The Tamil Nadu Government has taken up TASMAC under its own jurisdiction from the year 2003. So, the responsibility of appointing the necessary managers and bar helpers falls into the hands of the Government. Till now, there are about 7,000 vacancies waiting to be filled in the TASMAC stores. The Government consequentially has taken steps to employ about 5,000 employees through Employment services.
The Government initially appointed the graduate candidates to the post of managers, the tenth passed candidates to the post of distributors/sellers and eighth passed candidates to be bar helpers. In this way about 35,000 employees were recruited from the year 2003 as TASMAC came under Government undertaking. The problem arose when the number of TASMAC stores increased to 6,805 and the 35,000 students thus employed were not enough to handle the increasing demand.
Further, the above 35,000 had also decreased to 27,000 employees only currently at posts in TASMACs. The employee decrease has been attributed to many reasons. About 1,500 of them selected through TNPSC Exams have later changed their fields of employment, 850 of them met death due to natural causes and by accidents, 350 of them are on Medical related long leave and finally about 1,920 of them have been dismissed of their posts while found misbehaving in their posts.
This has lead to the tremendous decrease to 27,000 employees from the initial 35,000 employed. With the constant increase in the sales of TASMAC and the vacancies being piled up, the present 27,000 employees are being burdened to handle the issue of managing, selling and distribution. The Government has been apprised of this situation and the necessary data is being collected and sorted to help the employment situation. Soon, 5,000 employees will be employed in the 7,000 vacant posts available.

Graduate without higher secondary certificate get Govt job

The Government on a recent revision of the Educational priorities to the employment eligibility, has seen fit to equalize the students who have not completed plus two, instead have by-passed it to achieve their degree, with the regular plus two finished candidates.
There are many employees who have been recruited to the government posts but have not completed their plus two having by-passed it to their Diploma degrees or having studied graduation in correspondence and also having acquired graduation through open universities without studying plus and by-passing it after their tenth standard results.
These candidates are now being equalized to the normal graduate candidates, so they become eligible to TNPSC Exam selections. Many teacher candidates who have finished their BED after tenth also become eligible for Middle school teacher posts through this. And the main plus to all this is that the already employed candidates in the Government posts can now look up to promotions as they are being equalized with the regular degree holders. This promotion consequently will lead to more openings for the above mentioned candidates. This has proven to be a great opportunity for the plus two by-passed candidates.

1.27 lakh Government employees retire this year 2012-2013, creating good Government Job Vacancy

On a recent census on the amount of vacancies that the Government will be a subject of, about 1.27 lakh employees under Government will retire this year 2012-2013 leaving as many seats vacant. The reason to such massive retirement and vacancy thereof is because of the fact that during 2001-2005 the act of “non-job recruitment” for the Government employees was under subject. Due to this the retirements continued but no immediate recruitments followed. This 5 year gap followed by recruitment being done in a random manner rather than the orderly fashion according to the requirements under various districts and divisions, the confusion and vacancies have increased.
This has now amassed to the massive proportion of 1.27 lakh retirements. Of this 52,000 Government teachers are also included.

Government posts details:
There are about 142 Government based departments in Tamil Nadu. Of the accounting in 1996, about 6 lakh teachers, 3 lakh general Government employees, 1 lakh uniform division employees and 2 lakh contract basis employees made the Government employee sector.

The  particularity:
The Government has been very active about filling the teacher’s posts but it fails to implement same kind of enthusiasm about the other related Government posts. Also the Government teachers’ posts are being refilled by the same retired teachers on a contract basis rather than employ freshers. This has posed a great problem and a never ending question of employment, if any, to the about 75,000 unemployed youth registered through employment center.

Will any action be forthcoming on the account of any of this? The time should be the answer!
