TNPSC Group IV - Examination Fee

The fee for applying for Group IV examinations will be as given below. The fee structure is same for all posts that come under Group IV.

Examination Fee            - Rs.75/-
Cost of Application        - Rs.50/-

Exemption of Examinatin Fee
The candidates who are claiming exemption from examination fee should pay only Rs.50/- towards Application fee.

These candidates should also pay the service charges applicable to the Bank or Post Office or Fee Processing Agency
Exemption of Application Fee

Candidates those who have registered in the One - Time Registration system, and paid the registration fee of Rs.50/- and received the registration ID need not pay the cost of application for a period of 5 years from the date of registration even if he applies for any other posts subsequently notified by the Commission. However, please note that those candidates shall pay examination fee, if applicable, on any other occasion.

TNPSC Group IV - Procedure of Selection

The Selection for TNPSC Group IV examinations will be made on the basis of marks in the Written Examination and the rule of reservation of appointments

How to exercise Reservation appointments: After the list of selected candidates are published by TNPSC, they will be asked to verify their Original Certificates. At that time, the candidates can exercise their option as to which of the unit he/she wishes to be allotted.

However the candidates are required to exercise post option in the application as per their eligibility irrespective of the Service / Unit for which they apply.

TNPSC Group IV - Written Examination Pattern

The TNPSC Group IV examination will have only one examination in objective type. Given below are the basic details of the examination.

Subjects - General Studies (SSLC std), Aptitude Test General Tamil / General English
Duration of Exam - 3 hours
Total Marks - 300
Minimum Qualifying Marks for Selection - 90

Please note that though the examination has only one paper, two types of question papers will be set. First question paper will contain questions on General Studies (75 items) and Aptitude Test (25 items). The other will contain questions on General Tamil (100 items) or General English (100 items). Candidates are given the option to choose either General Tamil or General English for answering the second 100 items apart from answering the first (75+25)100 items on General Studies and Aptitude Test.

The questions on General Studies will be set both in English and Tamil and the questions on General Tamil/ General English will be set in the respective languages.

TNPSC Group IV Examinations - Educational Qualification Required

Given below is the education qualification that is required for candidates who aspire to appear for Group IV examinations.

Common Qualification for all Posts: (as on 14.06.2013)
The candidates should possess the following or its equivalent qualification:
  • Must possess Minimum General Educational Qualification. That is, must have passed S.S.L.C Public Examination or its equivalent with eligibility for admission to Higher Secondary Courses of Studies (or) to College Courses of studies.
Note:
The candidates who have not passed SSLC Examination or its equivalent are not eligible even if they possess a higher qualification.
 
Technical Qualification
 
(a) For Typist
 
Must have passed the Government Technical Examination in Typewriting:-
  1. Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and English (or)
  2. Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and Lower/ Junior Grade in English (or)
  3. Higher / Senior Grade in English and Lower/ Junior Grade in Tamil.
(b) For Steno-Typist, Grade III:
 
Must have passed the Government Technical Examination both in Typewriting and in Shorthand:-
  1. Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and English (or)
  2. Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and Lower/ Junior Grade in English (or)
  3. Higher / Senior Grade in English and Lower/ Junior Grade in Tamil.
Candidates who possess intermediate grade shall choose Junior Grade column, as the intermediate grade is not treated as equivalent to Senior Grade.
 
Candidates for both the posts i.e. Typist and Steno-Typist, Grade III Shall be selected in the following Order:-
  1. Candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (i) above will be considered first for selection.
  2. In case candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (i) above are not available, candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (ii) above will be considered for selection.
  3. In case candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (i) and (ii) above are not available, candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (iii) above will be considered for selection.
Computer Qualification (for Typist and Steno-Typist, Grade III):-
Candidates should have passed the “Certificate Course in Computer on Office Automation” awarded by the Technical Education Department.
 
Note:
Candidates who do not possess the said qualification (viz., Computer Qualification) conducted by the Technical Education Department may also apply. If selected, they should acquire such qualification within the period of their probation
 
 

TNPSC Group IV Examination - Age Limit

Hello Readers,

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission has recently invited applications for Group IV examinations. Given below is the age limit for the same.

Age to be calculated as on 01.07.2013




1. No maximum age limit for candidates belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, BCMs and Destitute Widows of all castes who possess a General Educational  Qualification which is higher than the Minimum General Educational Qualification  (i.e. who have passed P.U.C / H.S.C / Diploma /Degree).

2. “Others” [ i.e., Candidates not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs and BCMs ] who have put in 5 years of service in the State / Central Government are not eligible even if they are within the age limit.

3. The Technical and Non-Technical Staff of TANSI who have faced retrenchment and have not been absorbed in the Government / Corporations/ Undertakings may also apply, if they are otherwise qualified except age. The relevant age rule will be relaxed by the Government in their favour if they come up for selection.

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission has recently invited applications through ONLINE MODE ONLY for Group IV examinations. Given below are the important dates to be noted for this examination.

1. Date of Notification of the Examination - 14.06.2013

2. Last date for Submission of Application Forms - 15.07.2013

3. Last day for payment of Fee through Bank or Post Office - 17.07.2013

4. Date of Written Examination - 25.08.2013
