The job responsibilities of Jailor include guarding prisoners in precinct station house or municipal jail, assuming responsibility for all needs of prisoners during detention, locking prisoner in cell after searching for weapons, valuables or drugs, serving meals to prisoner and providing medical aid if needed, preparing arrest records identifying prisoner and charge assigned and questioning prisoner to elicit information helpful in solving crime.

Qualification:

A Degree of B.A. or B.Sc. or B.Com. or B.O.L. of Annamalai University or B.B.A. of Madurai Kamaraj University or B.Litt. of Madras University or B.B.M or B.Litt. of Bharathiar University. Preference shall be given to persons possessing Master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice Administration and second preference shall be given to persons possessing Master’s degree in Social Work.
