The TNPSC exams
mostly follow a written examination followed by an oral test to test a
candidate on both analytical and leadership skills. A TNPSC examination is a
public service examination hence an official in TNPSC must have the qualities
of analytical reasoning and handling of situation skills to solve any problems
and work in the post.
Accordingly, the
examination pattern is set in the above mentioned forms of written and oral
test formats.
The written test is
of Objective type and it comprises pattern as:

As the
Minimum qualifying marks is set to 136 marks for General caste, SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs and BCMs need to score only 102 to qualify.
- Candidates can choose any one of the above subjects as Optional
subjects and they
should specify in
the application the subject in which they wish to be examined.
- The question paper for both the subjects will be set both in
English and Tamil.
