Candidates selected for TNPSC Librarian Post will be initially recruited under Pay Band 1 whose salary ranges between Rs. 15,600 to 39,100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400.

Date and Time of Written Examination:-
Paper – I:
Subject: Library and Information Science
Date: 17th July 2016
Session: Forenoon
Timing: 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

Paper – II:
Subject: General Studies
Date: 17th July 2016
Session: Afternoon
Timing: 02:30 P.M. to 04:30 P.M.

Exam Pattern:
Paper – I:
     A.  It will be of Degree standard and questions will be of Objective type.
     B.  The discipline covered is Library and Information Science (Code No.071)
     C.  Total time allotted for the exam is 3 hours
     D.  Total marks for this exam is 300 marks.
     E.  It comprises of 200 objective type questions.

Paper – II:
     A.  The exam will be of Degree standard.
     B.  The disciplines covered are General Studies and Interview & Records.
     C.  Total time allotted for the exam is 2 hours
     D.  Total marks for this exam is 270 marks.
     E.  It comprises of 100 questions.

The minimum qualifying marks for SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs(OBCMs) and BCMs is 171 whereas for others it is 228.

Librarian in Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (2008-2015) (Code No.2057)

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:

Candidates should possess the following or its equivalent Qualification on the date of this Notification (i.e.) 25th of April 2016:

B.A. or B.Sc., or B.Com. degree of any University
(or)
B.O.L. of Annamalai University
(or)
B.B.A. of Madurai Kamaraj University
(or)
B.Litt. of Madras University
(or)
B.B.M. of Bharathiar University
(or)
B.Litt. of Bharathiar University.

AND

Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science.

Note:

(A)  The qualification needed for this post must be obtained by passing the required qualification in the order of studies i.e. SSLC at first, followed by HSC/Diploma and finally U.G. degree as per the case.
(B)  Candidates should possess adequate knowledge of Tamil to apply for this position.

Age Limit (as on 01.07.2016):

(A)For TNPSC Librarian vacancy the aspirant should minimum be of 18 years of age while the upper age limit for candidates not belonging to reserved classes is 30 years.

(B)  There is no upper age bar for candidates belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs,  MBCs/DCs, BCs, BCMs and Destitute widows.

Tamilnadu Public Service Commission has released official notification No.09/2016 dated 25.04.2016 for direct recruitment to the post of Librarian. There is only single vacancy against this position in the department. Hence the level of competition will be really tough as far as initial screening rounds are concerned.

It is the mandatory for all the candidates to apply for the TNPSC Librarian recruitment 2016 through online mode.

     3.   Eligible applicants can now apply for TNPSC Librarian position by filling out the online application.

     4.   If you are first time applicant for TNPSC recruitment then you have to register your details in One Time Registration system and pay Rs.50 for the same.

   5.   Pay Rs.125 as examination fee for Librarian exam. (SC/ST/Widows/Differently abled Persons are exempted from exam fee)

     6.   Print the submitted forms and save them for your future reference.

The last date to apply by online mode is 24th May 2016. The examination will be conducted on 17th July 2016.

    D.  Total marks for this exam is 300 marks.
